BALANCE FOODS TO MANAGE BLOOD SUGAR
(Diabetes Management)
Objective: Empower the customer to use the concept of balancing foods that raise
blood sugar with foods that do not to manage blood sugar levels for people with
diabetes or who want to lose weight.
Scope of Class: We teach customers how to balance foods according to their
effect on blood sugar, how to plan small consistent meals and snacks and how to
estimate portion sizes in order to eat food in moderation. The tools utilized
are the 50/50 Plate, The Diabetes Food Guide Pyramid as well as food labels and
food models. The class closes with knowledge on a simple change process and how
to keep a journal to document progress in lifestyle change.
