NUTRITIONALLY SPEAKING
THE SKINNY ON FATS &
CHOLESTEROL
(Cholesterol Management)
Objective: Empower the customer to choose heart
healthy plant fats over more harmful fats like animal and trans
fats in order to reduce and control blood cholesterol levels.
Scope of Class: We teach customers how to identify which fats are
saturated fats (primarily animal fats) and which fats are
unsaturated fats (primarily plant fats). They will learn about the
most harmful fat called trans fatty acids and which foods contain
these fats. We also review the lipid panel and normal limits for the
different types of blood cholesterol. The Nutrition Facts Label
(food label) is used to identify fat content of foods. The class
closes with knowledge on a simple change process and how to keep a
journal to document progress in lifestyle change.
Presentation Format: Power Point with corresponding handouts.
Length: Approximately 45 min to 1 hour. |
