STRESS BUSTING 101
(Blood Pressure Management)
Objective: Empower the customer to recognize some of the physical, mental and
emotional signs of stress that play a role in high blood pressure and increased
risk for heart disease.
Scope of Class: We teach customers the relationship between stress and high
blood pressure. Early recognition of the physical, emotional, and mental signs
of stress gives individuals the ability to better cope with stress in its early
stages. Basic stretching, progressive relaxation and deep breathing are
practiced in the class. Mental stress coping mechanisms include visualization,
guided imagery and meditation. Customers leave with the techniques needed to
develop their own personal stress busting plan. The class closes with knowledge
on a simple change process and how to keep a journal to document progress in
lifestyle change.
Presentation Format: Power Point with corresponding handouts.
Length: Approximately 45 min to 1 hour.
