You will learn to recognize signs and symptoms of heart attack and stroke, normal levels of blood pressure and how to prevent heart disease. The recommendations of the American Heart Association regarding fruits, vegetables and low fat dairy are presented including how to use the Nutrition Facts Label (food label) to identify sodium content. The class closes with knowledge on a simple change process and how to keep a journal to document progress in lifestyle change.
